How to get there:
Koh Lanta is easy to reach from Phuket, Bangkok or Malaysia, and inexpensive too. Passenger ferries serve the island from Krabi, Phi Phi and Phuket as well as car ferries from the mainland.
From Bangkok
Several one-hour/20 minute flights to Krabi International Airport operate from Suvarnabhumi International airport and Don Muang airport in Bangkok. You can also fly to Trang and Phuket airports.
From Krabi
From November to April boats leave twice daily from Klong Chi Lard Pier, about 5kms outside Krabi town. From May to October, boats do not operate because of strong winds and high waves (monsoon season). Mini-buses take over public transportation between Krabi and Koh Lanta.
From Koh Phi Phi and Phuket
Boat service via Koh Phi Phi only runs during the high season, November to April. There are two boats scheduled daily both leaving Phuket at 1 p.m. The first boat journeys via Koh Phi Phi, the second directly to Koh Lanta.
From Trang
For travelers from Malaysia or Hat Yai and Bangkok, Trang is the only access point to Koh Lanta. The distance is about 140km and takes approximately 2 hours by minivan, including passage on the two car ferries.
